National Living Wage to rise to £11.44 from April 2024
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has given his approval to the Low Pay Commission’s proposal, greenlighting an increase in the National Living Wage to £11.44 come April. This move signals a noteworthy rise of £1.02 from the current rate of £10.42.
In an official statement, Hunt emphasised the positive impact the National living Wage adjustment will have on full-time workers. He asserted that they can anticipate an annual salary boost exceeding £1800. While the current National Living Wage rate of £10.42 primarily applies to individuals aged over 23. The upcoming adjustment will introduce a significant change by extending to include 21 and 22-year-olds for the first time. In addition to this development, the national minimum wage for 18 to 20-year-olds is set to experience a substantial increase of £1.11, bringing it up to £8.60 per hour, according to the government’s recent announcement.
