🌟 We’ve been celebrating International Women’s Day, a global movement highlighting the achievements and contributions of women in various fields, including the construction and manufacturing industries! 🏗️💪
👷♀️ Women in Construction & Manufacturing: Breaking Barriers and Shaping the Future 👷♀️
As we commemorate International Women’s Day with the theme of “Inspire Inclusion”, it’s essential to recognise the remarkable strides made by women in these traditionally male-dominated sectors. From architects and engineers to project managers and skilled tradeswomen, women are playing pivotal roles in shaping the built environment.
According to the Office for National Statistics, last year was a record breaking year for women working in the construction industry. Here’s some inspiring statistics demonstrating the move towards inclusion:
- Between April to June 2023, 15.8% of the workforce was female. Prior to the pandemic the figure stood at 12.6%.
- The UK has a higher percentage of female workers than the US, Germany and other countries.
- 37% of new entrants to the construction industry are female.
- 13% of construction companies are owned by women.
🚧 Despite facing historical challenges and stereotypes, women are defying expectations and excelling in every aspect of the construction and manufacturing industries. They bring unique perspectives, creativity, and innovation to the table, driving progress and pushing boundaries
