As part of our ongoing corporate social value initiative, we were delighted to host Oscar Snelson for a six‑week work experience placement. Throughout his time with us, Oscar gained valuable exposure to multiple areas of our business, showcasing the diverse career opportunities available within our organisation.
During his placement, Oscar:
- Supported our compliance team with daily audits, strengthening his attention to detail.
- Applied his communication skills to craft a persuasive sales proposal aimed at securing temporary labour orders from a new client.
- Gained hands‑on marketing experience by producing creative materials that promoted our brand.
- Assisted the sales team in identifying new business prospects and opportunities for growth.
- Designed engaging imagery for internal team‑building communications, helping foster collaboration across departments.
Oscar’s contribution reflects the positive impact of work experience placements — not only in developing young talent but also in reinforcing our commitment to corporate social value, professional development, and community engagement.
Find out how he got on below:
“When I first heard that I’d be spending six weeks on a placement at Net Temps as part of my Uniformed Protective Services course at college, I’ll be honest—I wasn’t exactly excited. I thought it was going to be boring, just endless admin tasks with little to learn. But as soon as I started, I realised how wrong my assumptions were.
From day one, the staff at Net Temps made me feel welcome. They’re not only friendly and approachable but also clearly know their stuff. Watching them work gave me a real appreciation for how professional and efficient the recruitment world is. Their support meant I was never left stuck, and I quickly found myself enjoying the tasks I was given.
One of the biggest surprises was how much my admin skills improved during the placement. I got hands-on experience with systems and processes that I’d never used before, and it gave me confidence in areas I hadn’t considered as part of my course. More than that, I gained an amazing insight into how recruitment works—how candidates are matched to roles, how communication is managed, and how important organisation is in this industry.
Even though my long-term career goal is to join the police, this placement has opened my eyes to other opportunities. I now understand how valuable recruitment services are, and I can see how the skills I’ve developed could be useful in any career path. It’s shown me that there’s always skills that can overlap no matter the career.
Looking back, I’m glad I didn’t let my initial doubts stop me. My time at Net Temps wasn’t boring at all—it was engaging, educational, and genuinely enjoyable. This experience has not only helped me grow but also broadened my perspective on the world of work.”
